AND THE FINALISTS ARE...   In alphabetical order by playwright:

William Baer -- Some Remote and Distant Place
A one-time psychic spy in the government-sponsored Remote Viewing program is asked to attempt one last mission:  to find a kidnaped child. Based on an actual government program that began in the 1970s.

David Hall - The Last Stage East
Under pressure from his determined mother, a young sheriff agrees to leave the West and return to the family home in Washington, D.C.  Before he can get out of town, he has to deal with a lovesick cowboy and an outlaw planning one more crime to finance his retirement.  Authentic-sounding frontier dialect adds to the fun.

Vicki Riba Koestler - The Thing With the Tree
A bedraggled old Christmas tree becomes the symbol of an elderly widow's inability to let go of the past.  It has been in her living room for three months when she finally starts looking for someone to help her take it down.  In the search, she not only gets rid of the tree but finds the courage to get on with her life.

Michael E. Wolfson - Legerdemain
A vaudeville magician becomes obsessed with a card trick he can neither understand nor reproduce.  In his quest for the truth he encounters real magic, with all its fascinations and hidden dangers.
